LONDON — Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from the Nottingham Open following her run to the final at Queen’s Club.
The British number one put a difficult start to 2026 behind her with an impressive run at the HSBC Championships last week.
But she missed the chance to land a first title since her US Open success in 2021 when she was beaten by Croatia’s Donna Vekic Sunday.
The 23-year-old has risen back up to 31st in the world rankings and is in line for a Wimbledon seeding following her run to a career-first grass-court final.
And she has decided not to play in Nottingham this week, a tournament where she has no ranking points to defend.
Raducanu started Sunday’s final wearing significant strapping on the inside of her left thigh, which she removed late in the first set.
After her defeat, she said according to PA Media: “I have just been dealing with a few niggles over the past few weeks, and of course the load I have had in the last week.”
Last month saw Raducanu reunite with Andrew Richardson, the coach who guided her to that US Open triumph as a qualifier.
Raducanu posted on Instagram on Monday: “A special week. Thank you, London. Thank you, Queens, all of your support & the atmosphere this week at home meant everything to me. It hurts but it’s just more fuel. To my team too, all your resilience and efforts to get me here.”
