Egypt to face Spain, Saudi Arabia
The Qatari Local Organising Committee (LOC) for Football Events has officially announced the full itinerary for the highly anticipated Qatar International Football Festival, set to transform Doha into a global sporting hub from March 26 to 31.
This event serves as a critical preparation phase for participating nations ahead of this summer’s World Cup.
The festival’s schedule is headlined by a series of elite matchups, including a marquee international exhibition for the Euro-Latin American Super Cup.
On March 27, football fans at Lusail Stadium will witness a historic clash between Spain, the reigning European champions, and Argentina, the current South American and World Cup titleholders.
The host nation will also take centre stage, as the Qatari national team is slated to face Serbia on March 26 at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium before concluding the festival against Argentina on March 31 at Lusail Stadium.
The Egyptian national team figures prominently in the programme, scheduled to compete in two high-stakes fixtures designed to test their World Cup readiness.
The Pharaohs will first face Saudi Arabia on March 26 at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium, followed by a monumental encounter with Spain on March 30 at Lusail Stadium.
Saudi Arabia will also continue its intensive preparation with an additional match against Serbia, held at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on March 30.
Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, Qatar’s Minister of Sports and Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, emphasized that this festival is a testament to Qatar’s enduring legacy and capacity for hosting world-class sporting events following the success of the 2022 World Cup.
He noted that the tournament offers a unique opportunity for fans to see global icons in person while providing teams with the rigorous competition necessary for the world stage.
In his concluding remarks, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa highlighted the special invitation extended to the Egyptian national team, citing the deep-rooted bilateral relations between Qatar and Egypt.
He expressed particular excitement for the fans, who will have the rare opportunity to watch global stars like Mohamed Salah compete in Doha.
The Minister extended his best wishes for success to Egypt and all participating Arab nations as they prepare for their upcoming World Cup campaigns.
In a bid to welcome a global audience, the “Visit Qatar” Foundation will launch specialized, discounted travel packages on February 1, encompassing airfare, luxury accommodation, and match access.
General ticket sales for the individual matches are scheduled to open to the public on February 25.
