CAIRO — Pyramids FC and Zamalek secured their places in the 2024/2025 Egypt Cup quarter-finals after defeating Arab Contractors and Modern Sport, respectively, in the Round of 16.
The quarter-finals are set to deliver high-stakes encounters as the remaining teams vie for a spot in the semi-finals of Egypt’s premier cup competition.

At the Air Defense Stadium in Cairo, Pyramids FC secured a 2-0 victory over Arab Contractors to book their place in the next stage.
The sky-blue team took the lead in the 48th minute through playmaker Youssef Obama, while midfielder Ahmed Atef sealed the win with a second goal in the 85th minute.
Pyramids dominated the match from the outset, creating multiple scoring opportunities, while Arab Contractors, known as the Mountain Wolves, relied on counterattacks.

With this win, Pyramids will face Enppi in the quarter-finals.
At Cairo International Stadium, Zamalek edged past Modern Sport with a 2-1 victory after extra time, following a 1-1 draw in regulation.

Midfielder Nabil Emad ‘Donga’ put Zamalek ahead in the fifth minute with a powerful header, capitalizing on a defensive error by Modern Sport’s goalkeeper Mohamed Magdy after a precise cross from winger Ahmed Sayed ‘Zizo’.
Modern Sport responded in the 53rd minute when Tunisian midfielder Mootez Zaddem equalized with a well-placed header past Zamalek goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi, forcing the match into extra time.

Zamalek regained the lead in the 106th minute when veteran playmaker Mahmoud Abdel-Razek ‘Shikabala’ netted the winning goal after an assist from Zizo inside the penalty area.
The victory secured Zamalek’s place in the quarter-finals, where they will face Smouha on Saturday, March 15. Smouha advanced after a 1-0 win over ZED FC.

With these results, Pyramids FC and Zamalek joined the last eight as the Egypt Cup heads into its decisive stages.
Enppi, Ceramica Cleopatra, Smouha, El-Gouna, and NBE Club had already secured their spots in the quarter-finals.
Other round of 16 results
At Ghazl El-Mahalla Stadium, El-Mahalla secured a quarter-final berth with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Pharco FC.
Left winger Emad Mayhoub broke the deadlock in the second half of extra time, scoring the decisive goal to send El-Mahalla through.

The match ended in a goalless draw after regular time, leading to extra time to determine the qualifier. Mayhoub’s strike ultimately sealed El-Mahalla’s place in the next round, where they will face NBE Club.
At Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria, NBE Club delivered a commanding 3-1 victory over Al-Masry of Port Said.
Striker Osama Faisal opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, while Togolese winger Yao Anwar doubled the lead just five minutes later after a well-executed long pass from defensive midfielder Mohamed Fathi, allowing him to break through and finish past goalkeeper Mahmoud Gad.

Al-Masry pulled one back in stoppage time when Nigerian forward John Ebuka found the net in the 92nd minute. However, NBE Club quickly restored their two-goal cushion, with right winger Mohamed Grendo sealing the win with a 95th-minute strike.
