Amani Rabie is a living proof that age is no barrier ambition.
Within six years of her taking up powerlifting, she won world, republican and Arab champion titles.
Powerlifting is a strength sport that consists of three attempts at maximal weight on three lifts: squat, bench press, and deadlift.
“I started powerlifting at the Shooting Club gym. The coach made two teams and from here the challenge began,” Rabie told The Egyptian Mail.
“I went for the Republic Championships and won 41 gold medals, and also I participated in three Arab championships and won 7 gold medals”
“In 2019, I was in Mr. Olympia in Las Vegas and won a gold and a bronze medal, and I went again to America in 2021 to compete in Mr. Olympia and won a second gold medal.”
And about her routine, she said: I am a very organised person. I wake up at 6 a.m., do the housework, then I exercise 3-4 hours a day, 6 days a week, and, thank God, I don’t fall short in anything, whether it is home or exercise.
“I advise girls to strengthen their muscles and always do sports, because women in Egyptian society always need strong muscles, which makes them always confident in themselves” Rabie said.
“I always compete with young girls, whether in Egypt or in Arab championships or in America, and this I do not take into account because I am actually challenging myself before I challenge those younger than me.”
Rabie said that she eats everything, but in reasonable quantities, provided that she does not lack the nutrients she needs to strengthen her muscles.
“I want to maintain the title of Mr. Olympia and soon in the World Cup in America I hope to participate in it and achieve numbers that no one has achieved, there is also a championship in Russia I would like to achieve what makes the Egyptian people happy” Rabie added.
