Egypt delivered a masterclass performance at the African Men’s Handball Championship in Rwanda, dismantling Uganda with a commanding 54–13 victory.
This final preliminary round match, held during the tournament’s run from January 21 to 31, solidified Egypt’s position as a powerhouse in the competition and confirmed their advancement to the main round with an unblemished record.
From the opening whistle, the Pharaohs established total control over the court. By the end of the first half, Egypt had already built a formidable 27–5 lead, showcasing a seamless blend of tactical defence and clinical finishing.
They maintained this relentless pace throughout the second period, ultimately finishing the game with a 41-goal margin that left no doubt regarding their championship aspirations.
Egypt’s journey through the group stage has been a testament to their consistency and depth.
The team opened their campaign with a decisive 36–25 win over Gabon, followed by a high-scoring 41–28 victory against Angola.
By defeating Uganda in their third outing, the defending champions topped their group, carrying significant momentum into the next phase of the tournament.
Individual excellence was also on display, as Egyptian star Mohamed Emad “Oka” was officially named the player of the match.
Oka’s influential performance was central to the team’s offensive rhythm and defensive solidity.
As the tournament progresses in Rwanda, Egypt now looks ahead to the main round, positioned as the team to beat in their quest for continental glory.
