LOS ANGELES — Reggie Jackson had 35 points and 13 assists, and DeAndre Jordan added 21 points and 13 rebounds in the Denver Nuggets’ 113-104 victory over Los Angeles Clippers.
“Definitely one of the sweeter ones,” Jackson said. “We got our main guys out and it was really great for the team, a resilient group, the way we came together. I was just proud of the way we kept battling.”
Devin Booker hit a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 1.7 seconds remaining and finished with 28 points and 11 assists to lead the Phoenix Suns to their seventh straight victory, 116-113 over New York Knicks.
“But with the game on the line,” Booker said, “I wanted to take that one.”
With Kevin Durant out for a second straight game because of a sore right foot, the Knicks focused extra attention on Booker throughout the game.
Eric Gordon added 25 points for the Suns, who were also without guard Grayson Allen.
Elsewhere, Jayson Tatum scored 34 points, Jaylen Brown had 21 and the injury-depleted NBA-best Boston Celtics beat the Atlanta Hawks 113-103.
Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday were sidelined with injuries for Boston (13-4). Holiday was out for the second straight game with a sprained right ankle and Porzingis strained his left calf in a loss at Orlando. Both were dressed in street clothes and on the bench.
“We’ve been playing eight for the majority of the season,” Boston coach Joe Mazzulla said according to AP. “You have to find moments to give guys opportunities, see what we can develop and give guys chances. That was a perfect opportunity when you have guys out.”
Meanwhile, Anthony Edwards scored 24 points, Karl-Anthony Towns and Mike Conley each had 18 as the Minnesota Timberwolves routed the Memphis Grizzlies 119-97.
Rudy Gobert added 13 points to help the Timberwolves win for the fourth time in five games. Conley added a season-high 10 assists and was 6 of 9 from 3-point range.
Timberwolves coach Chris Finch said part of the game plan was to get Conley more involved. In recent games, the point guard has not gotten as many touches in the flow of the offense.
“I could tell from the beginning of the game – the first couple of plays – he designed for me specifically,” Conley said, “I think we’re a better team when I’m able to be more aggressive.”
Edwards was questionable for the game after waking up Sunday morning with back spasms. He went through his pregame routine before Minnesota declared him available. Finch said as things trended during the day, it looked like Edwards would not play, which concerned Finch.
“Ant is a fierce competitor,” Finch said. “He’s a gamer. He loves to play He’s not somebody who is ever looking for a reason not to play. I was very pleased and proud of him for battling through.”
Jaren Jackson Jr. led Memphis with 18 points, while Santi Aldama finished with 14. Desmond Bane scored 13 points, but was 5 of 16 from the field as Memphis lost its fourth straight dropped to 0-8 at home.
