Minister of Youth and Sports was in Fayyoum Tuesday to open sports facilities.

Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf  Sobhy and Governor of Fayoum Ahmed el-Ansari opened the Safwa Club

The club included a LE650,000 five-point stadium with artificial turf, a children’s playground, a gymnasium and a headquarters for club members.

The Sports Ministry is following a ‘sports-for-all’ policy, especially women, as per directives by President Abdel Fattah el Sisi, who sees access to sports as a right, Sobhy said in statements to the Middle East News Agency (MENA) yesterday.

Sports are needed to build a better Egyptian personality, he said, adding, “It is a strategy that takes into consideration improving public health and countering extremist ideologies.”

Sobhy said his ministry is working with the House of Deputies (lower house of parliament) to pass legislation to upgrade sports to international standards.
