LONDON – Arsenal could take advantage of the news that Mohamed Salah has rejected a potential transfer to Barcelona, by offering players the Catalan club have been interested in previously, according to Football London on Tuesday.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette were reportedly on Barcelona’s radar in the summer transfer window but a deal for one of the players never managed to materialise.
With the Gunners looking to improve the attacking phase of play, offloading one of the strikers at the club is a certainty in the upcoming transfer windows.
And Barcelona being knocked back by Salah could see the La Liga side regain interest in one of the Arsenal strikers.
Speaking to Egyptian broadcaster MBC, Salah said: “This is something that makes me happy that a team like Barcelona is interested in me, but I’m happy in Liverpool and we will see what happens in the future.
Barcelona have been poor this season and a shade of their former self, as they currently linger in seventh place in the La Liga standings.
A major reason for their poor start is their lack of striking options in attack. This is why Sky Sports reported in the summer transfer window that the Catalan side were attempting to sign Aubameyang.
