Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is setting his eyes on more achievements during 2024.
The New Year is expected to be full of challenges for football players at the local and international levels.
However, Salah will be on a historic date to make many achievements, whether with Liverpool at the local and European levels, or with the Egyptian national team which participates in the African Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
The Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to be held between January 13 and February 11, 2024.
The Egyptian national team prepares to face Mozambique on January 14, 2024, at the Felix Ouvei-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan city, Côte d’Ivoire, in the first round of the group stage of the African Cup of Nations.
Egypt will then clash with Ghana in the second round, and end the group stage against Cape Verde.
Salah will lead the Egyptian national team, the historic champion of the tournament with seven titles.
The player aspires to achieve the title, for the first time in his career with the team.
Salah failed to win any title with the Egyptian first team. In 2017 and 2021, he achieved the second place in the African Cup of Nations. This is why he looks forward to clinching the title, for the first time in his international career.
Mo, as Salah is called in Anfield, Liverpool, also seeks to be the top scorer of the Egyptian national team in the history of the African Cup of Nations. He currently ranks sixth with six goals.
The Liverpool star needs to score six more goals to equal legendary player Hassan al-Shazly, who has 12 goals, at the top of the Pharaohs scorers in African competition.
Salah has so far scored 55 goals with the Egyptian national team, which puts him in second place among the Pharaohs’ top scorers throughout history.
During 2024, Salah needs to score 13 goals to equal Hossam Hassan’s record. Hassan leads with 68 goals.
Meanwhile, Salah occupies tenth place in the Premier League’s all-time top scorers, equal to Englishman Michael Owen, Liverpool legend, with 150 goals for each of them.
Salah needs to score 13 goals to equal the number of club legend Robbie Fowler, to become the eighth top scorer in the competition in history, during 2024.
Thierry Henry, Arsenal legend, comes in seventh place with 175 goals.
Salah aims to win the Golden Boot award during the 2023-2024 season of the English Premier League, for the fourth time in its history.
The Egyptian national team captain was previously crowned with this award on three previous occasions, during the 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2021-2022 seasons.
The year 2024 will come with a historic opportunity for Salah to achieve a new European title with Liverpool, after winning the Champions League and European Super League earlier.
If the European League title is achieved, Salah will have achieved all the titles with Liverpool.
Salah has previously won seven titles, including the English Premier League, the Champions League, the European Super Cup, the FA Cup, the League Cup, the Charity Shield, and the Club World Cup.
