Mo is going to expand his dominance in Anfield until 2025.
He has put a pen on the paper with the Reds for a new three-year contract, with a weekly wage of £350,000.
This makes him the highest paid player in the history of the English giants.
“I feel great and [I am] excited to win trophies with the club,” Mo told Liverpool’s official website. “It’s a happy day for everyone. It takes a little bit of time, I think, to renew, but now everything is done so we just need to focus on what’s next.”
The Egyptian forward has so far scored a remarkable 156 goals in 254 appearances.
In 2017, Liverpool paid 42 million euros to get Mo from AS Rome.
In five years with the Reds, Mo played a pivotal part in multiple successes under Jurgen Klopp.
Mo helped Liverpool snatch its 6the Champions League in 2019, and the Premier League title in 2019, after 30 years of thirst.
In addition, he got several accolades.
Fabrizio Romano, a Sky Sports journalist, said Klopp played the starring role in persuading Mo to renew his contract.
The German coach had several conversations with the Egyptian forward, trying to convince him with the team’s plans for the near future.
Klopp believes Mo would be the most prominent element in the Reds’ battalion project in the coming period.
The coach showed his optimism with Mo’s renewal with Liverpool until the summer of 2025.
“It belongs to us,” Klopp said. “This is his club, do not have any doubt that the best years of Mo are still arriving. The first five seasons here have been matter of legend.”
Kenny Dalglish, a Liverpool legend, tweeted: “The best signing of the whole summer. Thank you Mo – you have made Liverpool fans everywhere ecstatic!”
Mo may achieve more records with Liverpool during the next three years.
Indeed, he is now the 20th player in the list with 120 goals, equal to the English legend Steven Gerrard. He has the opportunity to advance more in the list.
Mo has three Golden Boot awards as the Premier League’s top scorer in his possession, equal to Alan Shearer and Harry Kane.
Only one player is superior to the Egyptian star, namely the French Arsenal legend
Thierry Henry who won the Golden Boot four times.
So, Mo has the chance to exceed Henry and become the top scorer.
Away from the English Premier League, Mo occupies the ninth place in the list of Liverpool’s top scorers throughout history with 156 goals, in only 5 seasons.
