CAIRO — Malak Ayman, an athlete with the Egyptian national team, set a new Egyptian indoor record in the 60-meter hurdles with a timing of 8.45 seconds during the Western Conference Championships in the United States.
The landmark accomplishment highlights the consistent technical and physical development of Egyptian female athletes in sprint and hurdles events.
The success reflects the continued backing of the Egyptian Athletics Federation’s board, led by Hatem Fouda, which has prioritised talent identification and development through structured scientific training programmes and close follow-up of athletes both at home and abroad.
Fouda praised the accomplishment, stating that breaking the national record in a strong US-based competition confirms the Federation is moving in the right direction.
He emphasised that supporting Egyptian athletes competing overseas is a core part of the Federation’s strategy to build a generation capable of excelling regionally and globally, describing Malak Ayman as a model of dedication and perseverance.

Fouda added that the Federation remains committed to strengthening sprint and hurdles disciplines, events in which Egypt has promising talents capable of delivering major breakthroughs in the near future.
