DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania – African champions Al-Ahly is gearing up for robust examination against Tanzania’s Young Africans on Saturday at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium as they aim to preserve their perfect CAF Champions League start.
Coach Marcel Koller’s harbours necessary respect for Ahly’s next Group D opponents, lauding Young Africans’ quality during his pre-match address.
“They are a strong and organized team achieving good results lately,” outlined the Swiss trainer.
Kohler has diligently analysed their playing patterns from recent performances and pinpointed strengths to nullify.
However, he insists Ahly will continue playing to win while treating each foe seriously amid a congested schedule.
“We must make a big effort against Young Africans but always play to win and respect every competitor,” stated Koller according to CAFonline.com.
Currently top ahead of Saturday’s Tanzanian trip, Ahly also expect another well-drilled adversary looking to derail their title defence.
Versatile operator Mohamed Hani admitted securing another away victory in Dar es Salaam constitutes a huge task after seeing Ahly defeat Medeama already.
“We have great determination to return with more points,” declared the committed midfielder.
Following Belouizdad’s 3-0 win over Young Africans last time out, the Egyptians can displace their Algerian rivals in first spot by protecting their perfect Group D record on the road.
But with Coach Koller very wary of this opponent’s significant threat, straightforward progression seems unlikely as the seasoned Ahly squad’s mettle faces further African examination.
