BRUSSELS — Anders Foldager admitted he “surprised” himself by coming through in the sprint to win the Brabantse Pijl one-day cycling race in Overijse, on the outskirts of Brussels.
The 24-year-old Dane from the Jayco AlUla team claimed the second victory of his professional career, following a stage win at the Tour of Slovakia in 2024.
“I knew this was the perfect race for me,” said Foldager according to AFP.

“It is by far my biggest win, so yeah, I surprised myself… (it) proves to the team and myself that I have the level to be at the top of these races, like I hoped I could.”
Foldager, who succeeds Remco Evenepoel on the race’s roll of honour, waited patiently and made the most of the uphill finish, proving too strong in the sprint for Belgian Quinten Hermans and Frenchman Benoit Cosnefroy who completed the podium.
