CAIRO — International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) President Morinari Watanabe has commended Egypt for delivering a standout edition of the 2026 Artistic Gymnastics World Cup, staged from April 3 to 6 at the Cairo International Stadium Indoor Halls Complex.
Watanabe extended his appreciation to Gohar Nabil, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Ehab Amin, President of the Egyptian Gymnastics Federation, underlining that Egypt’s government gave it their all, pulling off a competition that was both tightly organised and technically top-notch.
Watanabe also seemed genuinely excited about coming back to Egypt. The country has put on this event for six consecutive years, and that track record just shows how much FIG trusts Egypt to deliver — time after time.

The FIG president emphasised that Egypt’s reputation as a go-to destination for major gymnastics competitions continues to grow. With their world-class venues and the seamless way events are run, it’s quite evident.
Watanabe pointed out that Egypt’s streak of well-run competitions puts them in a great spot to land even more global events, like the upcoming 2028 Aerobic Gymnastics World Cup.
This year’s Artistic Gymnastics World Cup wrapped up with a strong turnout — 128 athletes from 33 countries showed up, making the event fierce and lively.
A diverse international field took part, including athletes from Algeria, Armenia, Belarus, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Spain, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Morocco, Norway, New Zealand, Panama, Philippines, Qatar, Russia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Sweden, Türkiye, Ukraine, India, Cameroon, and host nation Egypt.
