CAIRO – Egyptian Youth and Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi led a 21-kilometre cycling marathon in the New Administrative Capital (NAC).
Sobhi was accompanied by a host of the ministry’s leaderships during the marathon, which also saw the participation of as many as 25,000 boys and girls.
Marking the World Bicycle Day, the marathon, organized by the Youth and Sports Ministry in cooperation with the Egyptian Federation for bicycles, was held under the sponsorship of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli.
The Youth and Sports Ministry is keen on holding various events similar to the cycling marathon with the aim of introducing young people to what is happening on the ground regarding the implementation of major projects taking place under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Sobhi said during the marathon.
Sobhi, meanwhile, said that the ministry is keen on promoting the culture of practicing sports among young people and citizens and encouraging them to be physically active to enjoy a healthy lifestyle, which is accomplished through events and marathons held periodically in all governorates.
