Egypt’s para rowing team continued to make its mark on the international stage, as Malak Abdel Rahman secured two silver medals at the International Para Rowing Championships held in France from May 1–4.

Abdel Rahman produced a standout display, holding her own against some of the world’s best to finish second in a tough field— further sign that Egyptian para rowing is on the rise.
Alaa Hassan also delivered a strong showing. In the opening race, he grabbed seventh place out of 14, just five seconds behind the German rower who finished seventh at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. Then, after an intensive training camp at the Olympic Stadium in Paris from April 26–30, he pushed through to fifth place in his next race.
Technical director Saher Refaat led the Egyptian team, with Malak Abdel Rahman and Alaa Hassan competing.

Sherif El-Komaty, who heads up both the Egyptian and Arab Rowing Federations and serves as Treasurer of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, praised what the team accomplished and highlighted just how much para rowing has grown in recent times.
El-Komaty noted that these results prove the training programmes are paying off, and that they set Egypt up for even more achievements, both regionally and internationally.
