CAIRO — Egyptian modern pentathlon champion Moataz Wael won gold at the Modern Pentathlon World Cup in Cairo, scoring 1,608 points to break his own world record of 1,561.

The event features 400 athletes from 42 countries and is the first stage of the 2026 World Cup series.
Minister of Youth and Sports Gohar Nabil congratulated the Egyptian champion, praised Wael’s performance, and commended the Egyptian Modern Pentathlon Federation.

Nabil reaffirmed the government’s full support for Egyptian athletes, especially in individual and Olympic sports.
