BUENOS AIRES – Egypt’s tennis player Mayar Sherif, World number 103, qualified for the final of Tucumán Open, that runs from November 2 to 10, after defeating Swiss player Simona Waltert 6-4, 5-7 and 6-2 in the semifinal.
The Egyptian player will face Ukraine’s Oleksandra Oliynykova, ranked world No. 132.
Earlier in the tournament, Sherif cruised past Russia’s Anastasia Zolotareva (No. 357) in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 in the round of 16, edged Slovenia’s Polona Hercog (No. 899) 7-6, 7-6 in the opening round, and eased past Chile’s Antonia Vergara Rivera (No. 458) 6-1, 6-2 in the quarterfinals.
