CAIRO/ABU DHABI — Egyptian Premier League giants Al-Ahly, Zamalek, Pyramids FC, and Ceramica Cleopatra have finished their preparations for the 22nd edition of the Super Cup, scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on Sunday.
Domestic league champions Al-Ahly will clash with League Cup winners Ceramica Cleopatra in the tournament’s semi-final match at 8:00pm Cairo Local Time, held at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium.
Meanwhile, Zamalek, making their 12th appearance in the Super Cup after missing last year’s edition, will face Pyramids FC, the winners of the Egypt Cup, in the other semi-final at Al-Nahyan Stadium at 4:05pm Cairo Local Time.
The winners of the two semi-final matches will advance to the final on October 24 at 8:00pm Cairo Local Time to compete for the domestic title.
The tournament is organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the United Sports Company, in cooperation with the UAE and Egyptian Football Associations.
Four teams compete in the tournament: the Egyptian League champion (Al-Ahly), the Egyptian Cup champion (Pyramids FC), and the League Cup champion (Ceramica Cleopatra).
Additionally, this season, the organizing committee has nominated Zamalek as the fourth team, which has received a ‘golden card’ to participate in the competition.
Al-Ahly holds a record 14 titles in the Egyptian Super Cup, making them the most crowned champions, with a 10-title lead over their closest competitor, Zamalek.
The Red Devils aim to secure their fourth consecutive Super Cup title, having won the titles in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
