CAIRO — In the eighth round of the 2024-2025 Egyptian Premier League, Smouha, Ceramica Cleopatra, and NBE Club each recorded victories, while Enppi and Petrojet played out a goalless draw.
At Alexandria’s Borg el-Arab Stadium, Smouha clinched a hard-fought 1-0 win over Modern Sport.
Striker Hossam Hassan scored the decisive goal in the 43rd minute, expertly heading in a precise cross from midfielder Mahmoud Saber.
Goalkeeper Hani Soliman was pivotal in maintaining Smouha’s lead, making a crucial save in the 63rd minute by denying a one-on-one attempt from Modern Sport’s striker Ahmed Atef, and later thwarting a follow-up shot from Cameroonian forward Arnold Adrien Eba.
This victory lifted Smouha to eight points, climbing to 13th place in the standings, while Modern Sport remained bottom with 4 points.
At Cairo’s Military Sports Authority Stadium, Ceramica Cleopatra edged Talae el-Geish 1-0.
Algerian midfielder Ahmed el-Khandousi netted the match-winner in the 66th minute with a spectacular strike, leaving El-Geish’s goalkeeper Mohamed Shaaban helpless.
Despite dominating possession and creating numerous chances, Ceramica failed to extend their lead. Talae el-Geish, on the other hand, struggled to find an equalizer, and their efforts fell short.
The result elevated Ceramica’s tally to 15 points in second place in the standings, whereas Talae el-Geish stayed on 8 points, positioned 11th in the table.
At Cairo’s Petrosport Stadium, Petrojet and Enppi settled for a goalless draw.
Petrojet missed a golden opportunity to take the lead when midfielder Rashad el-Motawli missed a penalty in the 19th minute after forward Islam Hesham was fouled by Enppi’s center-back Ahmed Kalosha.
Enppi was later awarded a penalty, but a VAR review overturned the decision due to the absence of a handball. Enppi’s midfielder Modi Nasser squandered a clear chance, failing to convert from a promising chance.
Both teams exchanged offensive plays in the second half but lacked the clinical edge to break the deadlock.
In stoppage time, referee Hisham el-Qadi advised by VAR dismissed a potential penalty for Enppi, concluding the game without a goal.
As a result of the draw, Enppi climbs to 14th place in the league table with 7 points, while Petrojet moved up to ninth with 10 points.
At Cairo International Stadium, NBE Club secured a 1-0 victory over Ismaili.
Left winger Yaw Annor scored the only goal in the 49th minute, sealing the win.
This result propelled NBE Club to seventh place with 11 points from eight matches, while Ismaili remained in 15th position with 7 points after the same number of matches.
In another fixture, ZED FC achieved a 1-0 triumph over Al-Ittihad of Alexandria, courtesy of a 33rd-minute goal by striker Dilson Kamouni.
This victory elevated ZED FC to fifth place with 13 points from eight matches, while Al-Ittihad of Alexandria remained in 10th position with 9 points.
