CAIRO – Al-Ahly, Pyramids FC, Al-Ittihad and Ceramica Cleopatra emerged victorious at the 22nd week of the 2023-2024 Egyptian Premier League season as Zamalek clash against Enppi postponed due to the White Knights’ participation in the CAF Confederation Cup final against RS Berkane of Morocco.
At Ghazl el-Mahalla Stadium, Al-Ahly secured a dramatic 2-1 victory against Baladeyet el-Mahalla.
Midfielder Maged Hani had given Baladeyet el-Mahalla the lead in the 58th minute, but right-back player Omar Kamal’s equaliser in the 78th minute.
In the 88th minute, French striker Anthony Modeste came off the bench and was denied what would have been a remarkable header to give Al-Ahly the winner but it was saved by Baladeyet el-Mahalla goalkeeper Ahmed Hussein.
In the eighth minute of the stoppage time, Modeste scored the second after converting a pass into El-Mahalla’s net to change the outcome of the game.
The result propelled Al-Ahly to fifth place in the standings with 33 points from 15 games, while Baladeyet el-Mahalla slipped to 15th place with 19 points from 21 matches.
At Borg el-Arab Stadium in Alexandria, Pyramids FC secured a crucial 1-0 victory against Al-Masry of Port Said.
Pyramids wrapped up the win in in the dying moments of the match through Ramadan Sobhi.
The result pushed Pyramids into the lead of the domestic table with 44 points from 19 games and still has three in hands. Al-Masry of Port Said remained in 2nd place with 37 points from 21 matches and still has a game in hand.
At Arab Contractors Stadium, Al-Ittihad of Alexandria snatched a 1-0 victory over Arab Contractors.
Tunisian centre-back Seif Teka struck a decisive winner in the 61st minute to spark scenes of jubilation.
Al-Ittihad of Alexandria rose to fourth place in the table with 35 points from 22 games. Arab Contractors dropped into 17th place with 15 points from 21 matches and still has a game in hand.
At Cairo International Stadium, Modern Future and NBE Club shared the spoils in a thrilling 1-1 draw.
Striker Karim Bambo opened the scoring for NBE Club in the 3rd minute.
Cameroonian left-back Joseph Ngwem levelled the score for Modern Future in the 8th minute.
The draw left Modern Future in 11th place with 27 points from 20 games as NBE Club remained at 14th place with 19 points from 22 games.
At El-Gouna Stadium, newly promoted side Pharco FC rallied to beat El-Gouna 2-1.
In the 40th minute, El-Gouna’s Mazen Yasser opened the scoring after receiving a pass from the right front and then he broke through to score.
Four minutes later, striker Shoukry Naguib netted the equaliser from the penalty spot.
Pharco’s midfielder Mohamed Fakhry added the second goal after unleashing a quite stunning strike into El-Gouna’s net in the sixth minute of first-half stoppage time.
The victory left Pharco FC to 16th place with 16 points from 20 matches as El-Gouna dropped into 10th place with 28 points from 21 games.
Ceramica Cleopatra claimed a valuable triumph after stunning Talae el-Geish 2-1 at Arab Contractors Stadium.
Nigerian winger Sodiq Awujoola scored for Ceramica Cleopatra in the 4th minute.
Midfielder Yousry Wahid levelled the score for Talae el-Geish in the 37th minute as Ceramica striker Ahmed Yasser secured the winning goal four minutes before the end of the first half.
The win moved Ceramica Cleopatra to 7th place in the table on 31 points from 20 games as Talae el-Geish dropped into 9h place with 29 points from 20 matches.
