CAIRO — In the eighth week of the 2024-2025 Egyptian Premier League, Al-Ahly reclaimed the top spot with a win over El-Gouna, while Zamalek, Pyramids FC and Ceramica Cleopatra recorded decisive victories. In contrast, Ismaili and Al-Ittihad of Alexandria suffered setbacks, losing vital points.

Al-Ahly secured a vital 2-0 victory over El-Gouna, reclaiming the top spot in the league with 18 points from eight matches. El-Gouna remained in 17th place with six points from the same number of games.
El-Gouna started the match with an aggressive approach, but Al-Ahly’s goalkeeper Mustafa Shobeir was resolute, denying their efforts.

Despite several first-half attempts, both teams went into halftime scoreless, thanks to El-Gouna’s keeper Mohamed Alaa’s impressive saves.
Al-Ahly broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute when midfielder Emam Ashour converted a precise pass from playmaker Mohamed Magdy ‘Afsha.’
Ashour doubled the lead in stoppage time, finishing a low cross from Kareem al-Dubais. Al-Ahly’s steadfast defense ensured a 2-0 win.
Zamalek secured a 3-2 victory over Haras el-Hodood in a tightly contested match at Cairo International Stadium.

Winger Ahmed Sayed ‘Zizo’ was pivotal for Zamalek, scoring twice—once in the 12th minute and again from the penalty spot in stoppage time (45+6). Winger Moustafa Shalaby added a goal in the 36th minute.
Haras el-Hodood’s goals came from penalties, converted by midfielder Mohamed Ashraf in the 25th minute and striker Mahmoud Mamdouh in the 86th.
With this win, Zamalek climbed to second place in the league standings with 17 points from eight matches, while Haras el-Hodood stayed in 16th place with six points from the same number of games.

Zamalek dominated early, with Zizo opening the scoring, but El-Hodood equalized through Ashraf’s penalty.
Shalaby restored Zamalek’s lead, and Zizo added another from the spot. Despite Mamdouh’s late penalty, Zamalek held on for the win.
At the Air Defense Stadium, Pyramids FC secured a dominant 3-0 victory over Ghazl el-Mahalla.
Defender Ali Gabr opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, finishing a well-placed header from Moroccan attacking midfielder Walid el-Karti.

Striker Ibrahim Adel doubled the lead in the 51st minute, and Congolese forward Fiston Mayele sealed the win with a third goal in the 84th minute.
Despite Ghazl el-Mahalla’s efforts, they failed to capitalize on key chances, and Pyramids controlled the match to the end.
Al-Masry of Port Said secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Pharco FC at Borg el-Arab Stadium in Alexandria.
The win propelled Al-Masry into the top four of the league standings, with their points tally rising to 15 from eight matches, placing them fourth. Pharco FC, meanwhile, remained in ninth place with 10 points from the same number of games.

The match’s decisive goal came in the 20th minute when winger Hassan Ali delivered a precise corner from the right, which midfielder Mohamed Makhlouf headed into the net, giving Al-Masry the lead.
In the 75th minute, Al-Masry’s goalkeeper Mahmoud Gad was shown a red card after a VAR review confirmed he had handled the ball outside the penalty area.
At Cairo’s Military Sports Authority Stadium, Ceramica Cleopatra defeated Talae el-Geish 1-0, thanks to Algerian midfielder Ahmed el-Khandousi’s 66th-minute strike.

Ceramica moved to fifth place on 15 points, while Talae el-Geish remained at 8 points in 14th place.
Petrojet and Enppi played to a 0-0 draw at Cairo’s Petrosport Stadium. Petrojet’s attacking midfielder Rashad el-Motawli missed a penalty in the 19th minute, while Enppi had a penalty overturned by VAR. Both teams exchanged attacks but failed to score.

Enppi climbed to 15th place with 7 points, while Petrojet reached 8th place with 10 points.
At Alexandria’s Borg el-Arab Stadium, Smouha edged Modern Sport 1-0, with Hossam Hassan scoring the winner in the 43rd minute from Mahmoud Saber’s cross.
Smouha climbed to 13th place with 8 points, while Modern Sport stayed at the bottom with 4 points.
In another match, ZED FC secured a 1-0 win over Al-Ittihad of Alexandria, with striker Dilson Kamouni scoring in the 33rd minute.

ZED moved to sixth place 13 points, while Al-Ittihad remained on 9 points in 11th place.
At Cairo International Stadium, NBE Club defeated Ismaili 1-0, with Yaw Annor scoring in the 49th minute.
NBE Club climbed to 11th place with 7 points, while Ismaili stayed in 10th place with 9 points.
