Egyptian Premier League: Masry, Ismaili claim wins, Smouha held

CAIRO – Al-Masry of Port Said, Ismaili and ZED FC claimed victories in their matches in at the 2nd week of the Egyptian Premier League 2023-2024 season as Smouha held to draw.

At Borg el-Arab Stadium in Alexandria, Al-Masry of Port Said defeated Pharco FC 1-0.

The game sole goal came from winger Mido Gaber in the 54th minutes.

This result left Al-Masry of Port Said in 11th place with three points from two games as Pharco FC remained winless in 18th place from two games.

At Ismailia Stadium, Ismaili beat Al-Ittihad of Alexandria 3-1.

Tunisian right-back Hamdi Nagguez opened the scoring for Ismaili in the 7th minutes before Al-Ittihad Angolan striker Mabululu equalised in the 31st minutes.

Ismaili’s winger Abdel-Rahman Magdi added the second goal in the 38th minutes as Ghanaian forward Yaw Annor added the third in the 51st minutes.

The victory pushed Ismaili to 7th place in the league table with three points from two matches.

Al-Ittihad of Alexandria remained at 10th place with three points from two games.

At El-Gouna Stadium, ZED FC claimed a valuable 1-0 victory over El-Gouna.

Mohamed Samir scored the match sole goal in the 83rd minutes.

The result left ZED FC to 2nd place with 6 points from 2 matches as El-Gouna stayed in 13th place with one point from 2 games.

At Petrosport Stadium in Cairo, Enppi played to a 0-0 draw at Talae el-Geish.

Enppi remained at 14th place with one point from 2 games as Talae el-Geish dropped into 4th place with 4 points from 2 matches.

At Cairo’s Al-Salam Stadium, Pyramids FC defeated NBE Club.

The match sole goal came from striker Ibrahim Adel in the 69th minutes.

Pyramids remained at 5th place with 4 points from two matches as NBE Club dropped into 17th place without any win from two games.

At Cairo International Stadium, a late strike by Ahmed Alaa earned Arab Contractors a 1-1 draw to Zamalek.

Playmaker Youssef Obama had put the White knights ahead in the 83rd minutes.

The goal gave Juan Carlos Osorio’s side hope that their fortunes were on the rise after they have played out a thrilling 2-2 draw against Pyramids FC in their league opener last week.

But five minutes before stoppage time, Arab Contractors equalised when defnder Alaa scored with a diving header from a free kick into the box.

This result left the White Knights winless in 12th place with two points from two games as Arab Contractors are in 15th place with one point from two matches.
