TOKYO – Egyptian Mohamed Ibrahim (Kisho) won the bronze medal in the men’s 67-kilogram wrestling competition at the Tokyo Olympics on Wednesday to achieve the third bronze medal for the Egyptian mission in Japan so far.
(Kisho) began his campaign on Tuesday in the eighth final of the 67-kg weight category, defeating the South Korean Hansoo Ryu 7-6, and then overtaking the Armenian Karen Aslanian in the quarter-finals with points (7-7).
In the semi-finals, he was close to qualifying for the title match and at least guaranteeing a silver by advancing over Ukrainian Parviz Nasipov, but the latter overturned his delay to win 7-6.
Kisho outperformed Russian wrestler Artem Surkov to win the third bronze medal for the Egyptian mission after Saif Issa bronze in men’s 80 kg in taekwondo and Hedaya Malak in women’s weight in 67 kg in taekwondo as well.
