CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy said Egypt will host on May 17-20 meetings of the Executive Committee and Foundation Board Members of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), which will be held for the first time in Africa and the Middle East.
During a press conference held to announce details of Egypt hosting of the event, the minister referred to full coordination with the Egyptian Anti-Doping Organization (EGY-NADO) to render the event a success.
The minister reiterated WADA’s confidence in Egypt’s abilities to organize international events.
The convocation of the gathering attests to the Youth and Sports Ministry’s keenness on enhancing international cooperation in the anti-doping field, Sobhy said.
In a recorded speech, WADA President Witold Bańka commended Egypt’s efforts to organize the upcoming WADA meetings.
Bańka said Egypt has become a pioneering country in the various sports fields.
Egypt has trodden the right path toward overhauling and bringing into effect an active anti-doping programme, he added.
