Minister of Youth and Sports, Gohar Nabil, met with the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Weightlifting Federation to finalise preparations for a series of major upcoming tournaments.
The meeting centered on Egypt’s role as the host for the World Weightlifting Championships, scheduled for April and May in Ismailia.
This prestigious event marks a significant milestone for the nation’s sports sector and reinforces Egypt’s reputation as a top-tier destination for international athletic competition.
In an unprecedented sporting showcase, Egypt will also host the African Senior Championships and the Mediterranean Championships alongside the global tournament.
This historic gathering will bring together world-class athletes from across the globe, the continent, and the Mediterranean region. Minister Nabil has directed all relevant authorities to coordinate closely and provide daily updates on logistics and equipment to ensure the successful delivery of this multi-tier event.
Beyond the logistical planning, the Ministry and the Federation discussed long-term goals for developing the sport domestically.
The talks highlighted the importance of preparing Egyptian athletes for elite competition and discovering new talent to represent the country.
By fostering strong cooperation between the Ministry and sports federations, the government aims to support the next generation of champions and further elevate Egypt’s presence in the international weightlifting arena.
