The Egyptian national weightlifting coaching staff has officially announced the 16-member squad set to represent the nation at the 2026 World Junior Weightlifting Championships.
This prestigious event is scheduled to take place in Ismailia from May 2 to May 8.
The finalised roster, which balances depth and emerging talent, consists of eight male and eight female athletes selected from various clubs and military institutions across the country.
The men’s contingent features Sayed Ali Attia (Alexandria Military Academy, 65 kg), Mahmoud Metwally (Fayoum Knights Club, 71 kg), Iyad Mohamed (Ismailia Military Academy, 71 kg), Abdelrahman Hussein (National Project, 79 kg), and Ali Abdelradi (Ismailia Military Academy, 79 kg).
Rounding out the men’s squad are Mostafa Mahmoud Bakry (Cairo Electricity Club, 88 kg), Mostafa Abdelhay (23 July Club, 94 kg), and heavyweight competitor Mohamed Magdy (Haikstep Foundation, +110 kg).
The women’s roster highlights significant promise, including Fatima Abdel-Nabi (National Project, 48 kg), Basma Junaidi (National Project, 53 kg), Yasmin Abdullah (Military Institution in Ismailia, 58 kg), and Abeer Mohamed Mustafa (National Project, 69 kg).
The team is completed by Amira Mohamed Abdel-Rahman (Tersana, 77 kg), Hanin El-Sayed (Military Institution in Ismailia, 77 kg), Rahma Ahmed (National Project, 86 kg), and Shams Mohamed (Shabab Nasser, +86 kg).
As the host nation, Egypt is placing a high priority on the success of these games. The tournament’s Organizing Committee, led by Mohamed Abdel-Maqsoud, is currently working with full dedication to ensure that the event is organised to the highest international standards, reflecting Egypt’s prominent stature and commitment to the sport of weightlifting.
