Egypt kicked off their Main Round campaign in the African Men’s Handball Championship with a dominant 42–28 victory over Algeria.
The Pharaohs took control of the match from the very beginning, heading into halftime with a comfortable 20–10 lead.
Throughout the game, the team showed incredible skill and coordination, proving why they are the favourites to take home the trophy.
Following the victory Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi extended his congratulations to the team.
In a phone call with Captain Khaled Fathi, head of the national delegation, the Minister praised the players and technical staff for their discipline and strong performance.
Sobhi expressed his full confidence in this talented generation, urging them to maintain this momentum to secure Egypt’s fourth consecutive title and tenth overall championship.
He noted that the team’s success reflects the hard work within the Egyptian handball system and wished them continued success in the upcoming matches.
Spanish coach Juan Carlos Pastor skillfully managed the match, highlighting the high technical level of the Egyptian players.
The team’s performance was a continuation of their perfect form so far, having entered the Main Round after three straight wins against Gabon, Angola, and Uganda.
Their ability to dominate such a strong rival as Algeria shows they are fully prepared to defend their title.
Egypt is currently competing in a Main Round group that includes Algeria, Angola, and Nigeria.
Having cleared this first hurdle, the team now turns its attention to their second and final match of this round against Nigeria next Tuesday.
With this momentum, the Pharaohs look ready to secure their spot at the top of the standings.
