Seven-time champions Egypt secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2025, with a convincing 3-1 victory over Benin on Monday evening. Playing at the Grand Stade d’Agadir, the Pharaohs showed why they are the team to beat after finishing their group stage unbeaten and well-rested.
The breakthrough came from midfielder Marwan Attia, who found the back of the net to give Egypt an early lead.
Benin tried their best to stay in the game, but Egypt’s quality was too high. Defender Yasser Ibrahim doubled the lead with a strong finish, and the legendary Mohamed Salah added a third goal to make sure of the result at the final minute.
