A disabled Kuwaiti diver, who entered the Guinness World Record, was hosted by the Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS) for the second year in a row.

Faisal Al-Mosawi was the main guest of the show which was held between 1 and 5 March. He was invited to speak to attendees about his inspiring journey.

Al-Mosawi’s life turned upside down 18 years ago, when he ran into an accident that broke his back and obliterated his career as an athlete and a promising footballer for Kuwaiti’s Al Salmiya Club.

However, he was determined never to let his disability deprive him of success.

He managed to break a new record for the fastest 10 km scuba diving in 5 hours and 24 minutes in Hurghada, Egypt, on 22 August 2018.

Al-Mosawi participates in DIBS as an international lecturer in the field of motivation.

He attends the event to talk about his achievements in diving.

The show celebrates his record by specifying a pavilion where illustrated paintings throw light on his journey.

This year, al-Mosawi told the story of his achievement as the world’s fastest diver through a series of photos.

He comes to the show to deliver a positive message of motivation.

He also comes to underscore the importance of inclusion for people with disabilities.

This inclusion, he said, changes the lives of individuals for the better.

“Participating in these events is a great opportunity to review my personal experience and motivate people to overcome difficulties and achieve their dreams,” Al-Mosawi said.

“This opens the door for communication with a wider audience and the exchange of experiences with others,” he added.

He highlighted the importance of working to change negative perceptions about people with disabilities in society and encouraging them to achieve their personal and professional dreams and contribute to spreading tolerance and respect for individuals.

Ahmed Gabr, a Guinness World Records official adjudicator who verified Faisal’s record, expressed pride in al-Mosawi’s achievement of breaking the previous record of a normal diver by almost an hour.

“I consider al-Mosawi a superhuman,” he said.

The DIBS is one of the world’s largest exhibitions in the field of luxury yachts. It attracts many participants from all over the world, playing host to great models like al-Mosawi and reflecting deep faith in this generation of people with disabilities.

The event also conveys a humanitarian message to the world: everyone can succeed, as long as they have faith, determination and encouragement from others.

“I achieved the fastest dive for 10 km,” al-Mosawi said. “I broke the previous record, although I have a disability. So, today I believe that disabled people can challenge people without disabilities. The care our Emir offers the disabled encourages us. We all can have achievements. We all can succeed.”
