CAIRO — Enppi defeated defending champions Zamalek 2-0 in 21st matchday of the 2022/2023 Egyptian Premier League season.
Both sides went into the game desperate for a win – Enppi needed the three points to help their relegation fight, while Zamalek was looking to build on that CAF Champions League victory over Tunisia’s Esperance 3-1 last week.
The petroleum side’s goals came from forward Rafik Kabou in the 20 minutes as captain Ali Fawzi added the second in the 67th minutes.
The defeat is Zamalek’s fifth league loss of the season. The White Knights dropped into fifth place with 33 points from 20 matches. The win lifted Enppi to 13th place with 20 points from 21 matches.
Elsewhere, Future FC stunned Aswan 2-1 at Aswan Stadium.
Future’s goals came from midfielder Karim Nedved in the 7th minutes, Ali Zaaza in the 79th minutes.
Gabonese striker Malick Evouna scored Aswan’s sole goal in the 80th minutes.
The win lifted Future FC to 2nd place with 42 points from 21 matches as Aswan slipped to 12th place with 25 points from 21 games.
At the Arab Contractors in Cairo, Smouha beat Arab Contractors 1-0.
The game sole goal came from forward Hussein Faisal in the 25th minutes.
Arab Contractors remained at 6th place with 32 points from 21 games as Smouha is now in 9th place with 27 points from 21 matches.
