CAIRO — The Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Patrice Motsepe has announced major increases in prize money for Africa’s top club tournaments.

Starting from the 2025/26 season, the winners of the CAF Champions League will earn $6 million, a 50 per cent increase, while the champions of the CAF Confederation Cup will receive $4 million, doubling the previous prize.

Since Motsepe took office, Champions League prize money has risen from $2.5 million to $6 million, while the Confederation Cup reward has grown from $1.25 million to $4 million.

CAF also doubled financial support for clubs eliminated in the preliminary stages to $100,000, helping drive a record 130 clubs to participate in the 2025/26 season.

The CAF Champions League final will be played over two legs on May 15 and May 24, while the CAF Confederation Cup final is scheduled for May 9 and May 16.
