CAIRO – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced the postponement of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2026, moving the tournament to July 2026.
The competition had originally been scheduled to take place in Morocco from March 17 to April 3, 2026, before CAF decided to adjust the calendar.
In a statement released on its official website, CAF confirmed that after consultations with its partners and FIFA, the tournament will now be held from July 25 to August 16, 2026.
CAF explained that the decision aims to ensure the best possible organisation and success of the continent’s premier women’s football event, citing unforeseen circumstances that required the change in schedule.
The governing body also emphasised that preparations for the 2026 Women’s AFCON are progressing steadily, expressing confidence that the tournament will deliver a successful and memorable edition of African women’s football.
