Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi met with Qatari Ambassador in Cairo Salem bin Mubarak al-Shafi at the Olympic Centre in Maadi on Sunday.

The two officials discussed ways to strengthen sports co-operation between the two countries.

The minister outlined preparations underway for the Egyptian national team participating in the FIFA Arab Cup 2021 in Qatar between November 30 and December 18.

Egypt has a robust infrastructure enabling it to host world sports championships, Sobhi said, noting that his ministry is working out an integrated vision for the development of facilities and the infrastructure of the sports mechanisms in Egypt.

The minister called for more co-operation and coordination between the two countries to push the relations to new highs.

Following the meeting, the minister accompanied the Qatari ambassador on a tour of the Olympic Centre for Training National Teams.

The centre provides sports facilities of the international and Olympic standards, Sobhi said

For his part, the Qatari envoy said that his country was looking forward to boosting sports co-operation with Egypt.
