CAIRO – Barcelona announced on Sunday the signing of Egyptian striker Hamza Abdelkarim from Al-Ahly on loan until the end of the 2025-26 season. The agreement includes an option for Barcelona to make the move permanent at the conclusion of the loan.

The 18-year-old forward joins Barça Atlètic, the club’s reserve team, after passing medical tests and touring the club’s facilities. He is expected to begin training with his new teammates in the coming days.
Born on January 1, 2008, Abdelkarim becomes the first Egyptian player to join a Barcelona side. He progressed through the youth system at Al-Ahly and has represented Egypt at the under-17 level, where he played a key role in the recent U-17 World Cup.

Abdelkarim is a mobile, dynamic forward with a keen eye for goal and an ability to link play effectively. He has already made appearances for Al-Ahly in the CAF Champions League and the Egyptian Cup.
