CAIRO — Arab national teams are preparing for their opening matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, currently being held across the United States, Canada and Mexico through July 19.
The tournament features a record eight Arab participants in the expanded 48-team format: Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq and Jordan.
Arab sides face a series of high-profile and demanding fixtures in the opening round of the group stage, including clashes against global heavyweights Argentina, Brazil and Belgium.
Egypt begins their campaign against Belgium on Monday at Lumen Field in Seattle in Group G, which also includes Iran and New Zealand.
Morocco, semifinalists at the previous World Cup in Qatar, opens their Group C campaign against five-time champions Brazil on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, alongside Scotland and Haiti.
Algeria faces defending champions Argentina on Wednesday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City in Group H, which also features Austria and Jordan.
Tunisia starts their Group F campaign against Sweden in Monterrey, while Saudi Arabia meets Uruguay in Miami in Group H.
Qatar opens their Group B campaign against Switzerland in Santa Clara, while Iraq face Norway in Boston in Group I.
Jordan, making their World Cup debut, begins their historic participation on June 17 against Austria at Levi’s Stadium in Group H.
