Defending champions Al-Ahly was held to a disappointing draw as Al-Ittihad of Alexandria and Talae el-Geish claimed victories at 17th matchday of the 2021-2022 Egyptian Premier League season on Saturday.
At Arab Contractors Stadium, the Cairo giants held to a 1-1 draw against Ceramica Cleopatra.
An injury-time penalty from playmaker Mohamed Magdi “Afsha” in the 87th minute saw Al-Ahly salvage a point to Ceramica after striker Bassem Morsi had put the home side in front in the 87th minute.
The draw kept the Red Devils second in the table with 33 points from 14 matches, five behind leaders Zamalek, who played two games more. Ceramica stayed in 13th place with 18 points from 17 matches.
Elsewhere, Al-Ittihad of Alexandria defeated Ghazl El-Mahalla 3-0 at Alexandria Stadium.

Angolan centre-forward Mabululu opened the scoring in the 39th minute as Ghanaian striker Benjamin Boateng added the second in the 73rd minute.
Left-winger Fawzi el-Henawy added the third in the 79th minute.
The victory left Al-Ittihad in the 12th place with 19 points from 17 matches as Ghazl El-Mahalla remained at 10th place with 20 points from 17 matches.
At Cairo’s Military Sports Authority Stadium, Talae el-Geish stunned Ismaili 1-0.
Right-winger Ahmed Samir scored the match sole goal in the 59th minute.
The result pushed Talae el-Geish to 8th place with 22 points from 17 matches as Ismaili stayed in 16th place with 11 points from 16 matches.
