Al-Ahly, Zamalek, Pyramids FC, Misr el-Maqassa and Ceramica Cleopatra claimed victories in the 2nd week of the 2021-22 Egyptian Premier League season.
At Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo, Al-Ahly snatched a 1-0 victory over National Bank of Egypt (NBE).
The Red Devils’ sole goal came from striker Mohamed Sherif in the 62nd minutes.
Zamalek, meanwhile, defeated Talae el-Geish 2-0 at Borg el-Arab Stadium in Alexandria.
The White Knights goals came from winger Ahmed Sayed ‘Zizo’ from a penalty spot in the 19th minutes.
Striker Omar el-Said added the second in the 63rd minutes.
Zamalek next will meet Al-Ahly in a mouthwatering Cairo derby clash on Friday.
Elsewhere, Pyramids FC stunned newcomer Pharco FC 2-1 at Alexandria Stadium.
Centre-forward player Mahmoud Wadi scored the first for Pyramids in the 69th minutes as playmaker Abdallah el-Said added the second from a penalty spot in the 85th minutes.
Pharco’s defender Rami Sabri converted a penalty in the 95th minutes to make it 2-1.
The result left Al-Ahly, Zamalek and Pyramids FC at the top of the domestic table after bagging the maximum points from their opening two matches.
At Cairo’s Military Academy Stadium, Misr el-Maqassa beat El-Gouna 2-0.
El-Maqassa’s goals came from midfielder Kareem Salah in the 46th minutes as centre-forward player Ahmed Sabeha added the second in the 84th minutes.
The victory pushed Misr el-Maqassa to 7th place with 3 points from 2 matches as El-Gouna remained at 14th place with 1 point from 2 matches.
At Arab Contractors Stadium, Ceramica Cleopatra claimed a 2-1 victory over Ismaili.
Defender Essam Sobhi opened the scoring for Ceramica Cleopatra in the 62nd minutes as striker Shady Hussein added the second in the 73rd minutes.
Namibian striker Benson Shilongo scored Ismaili’s sole goal in the 29th minutes.
The result left Ceramica Cleopatra at 5th place with 4 points from 2 matches as Ismaili remained winless this season at 17th place from 2 matches.
