Al-Ahly, Zamalek claim wins in Egyptian Premier League

Defending champions Al-Ahly, Zamalek and Wadi Degla claimed victories in the 32nd week of the Egyptian Premier League as Enppi and Talae el-Geish held to draw.

At Alexandria Stadium, title holders Al-Ahly stunned Al-Masry of Port Said 4-2 Friday night.

The Red Devils’ goal came from attacking midfielder Salah Mohsen in the 9th minutes as winger Taher Mohamed added the second in the 35th minutes.

Right winger Hussein el-Shahat scored the third in the 45+1 minutes and left winger Mahmoud Abdel-Moneim ‘Kahraba’ added the fourth in the 79th minutes.

Al-Masry’s goals came through forward Omar Kamal in the 29th minutes as striker Ahmed Refaat claimed the second in the 42nd minutes from a penalty kick.

The victory kept the Red Devils in second place with 72 points from 32 matches as they trail leaders Zamalek by four points with two matches left to play.

Al-Masry remained at 4th place with 49 points from 32 matches.

Al-Ahly will play El-Gouna on Tuesday in the 33rd week of the league.

At the Suez Stadium, Zamalek defeated Ceramica Cleopatra 2-1 also on Friday night.

The White Knights’ goal came from Moroccan winger Achraf Bencharki in the 45th minutes as winger Ahmed Sayed ‘Zizo’ scored the winner from a penalty kick in the 59th minutes.

Ceramica Cleopatra’s sole goal came from defender Ahmed Mohsen in the 41st minutes.

The result cemented Zamalek on top of the domestic league with 76 points from 32 matches, to edge closer from their first league title since 2015, as Ceramica Cleopatra remained at 9th place with 38 points from 32 matches.

Zamalek will face El-Entag el-Harby on Tuesday in the 33rd week of the league.

Elsewhere, Wadi Degla beat Ismaili 2-0 at the Ismailia Stadium.

Degla’s midfielder Ahmed Atef scored twice in the 49th and 62nd minutes.

The win pushed Wadi Degla to 16th place with 28 points from 32 matches as Ismaili stayed at 13th place with 34 points from 32 matches.

At Petrosport Stadium in Cairo, Enppi held to a 1-1 draw against Talae el-Geish.

Enppi’s goal came from midfielder Zeyad Gamal in the 5th minutes as El-Geish midfielder Moustafa el-Gamal leveled the score after converting a penalty kick in the 22nd minutes.

The draw kept Enppi in 6th place with 43 points from 32 matches as Talae el-Geish remained at 8th place with 40 points from 32 matches.
