CAIRO – Al-Ahly won their 43rd Egyptian Premier League title, after Pyramids FC suffered a 2-1 defeat against Ceramica Cleopatra on Monday night.
Player Salah Mohsen emerged as the hero, scoring the two goals in the 44th and 83rd minutes, cancelling out Karim Hafez’s early goal in the 37th minute.
The CAF Champions League champions have 75 points from 29 matches they played, eight more than their closest challengers Pyramids, who have 67 points from 32 games. Pyramids have only two matches left in the domestic League.
The maximum points they can reach are 73 meaning they can’t topple the Red Devils and any circumstances.
Al-Ahly will face arch-rivals Zamalek on June 13 at Cairo International Stadium.
