CAIRO — The 2024–2025 Egyptian Premier League pressed on into the fifth round of its second stage, bringing renewed intensity to both the Championship and Relegation Groups. While contenders jostled for position in the heated title race, clubs at the bottom fought to keep their top-tier status alive.
Al-Ahly 4-2 Al-Masry
Al-Ahly produced a commanding comeback to secure a 4–2 victory over Al-Masry of Port Said at Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria, in the fifth round of the Egyptian Premier League Championship Group.

Al-Masry stunned the defending champions early when striker Salah Mohsen latched onto a loose ball inside the box and slotted home in the 6th minute, giving the Port Said outfit a surprise lead.
However, Al-Ahly gradually took control of the game, and their persistence paid off in the 35th minute when dynamic midfielder Emam Ashour found the net with a well-placed shot from outside the area to draw the Red Devils level.

Just three minutes into the second half, winger Taher Mohamed Taher completed the turnaround, coolly finishing off a swift counterattack to make it 2–1. Palestinian forward Wessam Abou Ali extended Al-Ahly’s lead in the 57th minute with a composed strike following a defensive mix-up.
Ashour then capped off his brilliant performance with a second goal in the 67th minute, giving Al-Ahly a comfortable 4–1 advantage.

Despite the deficit, Al-Masry continued to push forward and were rewarded in the 80th minute when Tunisian veteran Fakhreddine Ben Youssef pulled one back with a sharp finish from close range, but it proved only a consolation.
The result sees Al-Ahly moves up to 49 points as they continue their push for the title, while Al-Masry stays in fourth place with 35 points.
Enppi 1-0 Ismaily
Enppi secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Ismaily at Ismailia Stadium in the fifth round of the League’s relegation group.

The victory lifts Enppi to sixth in the standings with 21 points, while Ismaily remain second from bottom on 19.
Modern 1-0 Al-Gouna

The win boosts Modern Sport’s hopes of survival, lifting them to 18 points—still second from bottom—while Al-Gouna remain second in the group with 27 points.
Al-Ittihad 0-0 ZED
ZED FC and Al-Ittihad of Alexandria battled to a goalless draw at Cairo International Stadium as part of the fifth round of the relegation group in the fifth round of the relegation group.
The first half saw limited attacking intent, with both sides prioritizing defensive organization in a cautious display aimed at securing vital points.

ZED came out stronger after the break, looking to break the deadlock with a series of attacks originating from midfield. However, Al-Ittihad’s backline stood firm, neutralizing any serious threats and ensuring the points were shared.
The result lifts ZED to 29 points, keeping them top of the relegation group standings. Al-Ittihad, on the other hand, climbs to 23 points, joining Talae El-Geish and Smouha in a three-way tie for third place.
Smouha 0-0 El-Geish
Smouha and Talae El-Geish played out a tense 0-0 draw in a tightly contested fifth-round clash of the relegation group.
Smouha thought they had taken the lead late in the first half, but a VAR check ruled out Smouha’s midfielder Abdelrahman Amer’s strike for offside.

The game ended on a fiery note as Talae El-Geish defender Mohamed Fathallah, known as “Camacho”, received a straight red card in the final minute of regular time.
With the draw, both teams move to 23 points. Talae El-Geish holds third place thanks to goal difference, while Smouha sits just behind in fourth.
