CAIRO – Newly appointed Al-Ahly coach Ricardo Soares revealed his pride in coaching such a big club and promised to win the remaining titles of the current season.
The Portuguese coach has a vision for the team and he cannot wait to start working with the players, promising the fans to maintain the club’s traditions of winning with high-quality football.
“I am very happy to be here to represent the biggest club in Africa and one of the best clubs in the world,” Soares said during a press conference for his presentation.
“We will start a new phase in the club’s history. We will do our best to support the team. I know the responsibilities that come with coaching Al-Ahly. Our goal is to win titles and play high-quality football.”
“I know the responsibilities that come with coaching a team like Al-Ahly. I am honoured by the trust of the board in myself and my coaching staff. We will work with big ambitions and discipline to make our fans proud.”
“I would like to thank Sami Komsan and the rest of his coaching staff for his time and efforts with the team during the past period,” he continued.
“We will work together as one big family to achieve success and make the fans happy. We are all here to serve the interests of the club and the huge fan base who always provide full support to the team.”
“I spoke with one of the icons of the club to hear advice from him. Mr. Manuel Jose gave me great advice and he encouraged me to come to Al-Ahly. I appreciate his advice and the knowledge he gave me will help me in my mission,” the 47-year-old Portuguese coach said according to the club official website.
“In order to play well, we have to constantly train well. Step by step, we will need to have a good character to make sure that we keep winning.”
“Ever since starting negotiating with Al-Ahly, I started analyzing the team’s matches along with my assistants.”
“Al-Ahly has a lot of good technical players and I noticed that there are a lot of similarities between the Portuguese players and the Egyptian players. The players are very developed, smart, and can read the game well. There are a lot of good players with a lot of potential.”
At the end of the press conference, Soares received the club’s jersey from Hossam Ghaly, the club board member, and Sayed Abdelhafiz, the team’s director of football.
Mauricio Vaz and Raul Faria were appointed as assistant coaches to Soares, while Sami Komsan, who has been in charge of the club since Mosimane left, will act in the same capacity as Vaz and Faria.
Pedro Guimaraes is Al-Ahly’s new fitness coach and Eduard Lobo was confirmed as the goalkeeping coach, while Luis Pereira will be the performance analyst.
