CAIRO – The Egyptian national handball team qualified for the final of the African Men’s Handball Championship after beating their Tunisian counterpart 29-27 at the Hassan Moustafa Sports Hall.
The Pharaohs will face Cape Verde scheduled for Monday.
Egypt has already secured their place in the 2023 IHF Men’s World Cup, to be held in Poland and Sweden, in January.
It is set to be the sixth time that Egypt has hosted the competition following the 1983, 1991, 2000, 2004, and 2016 editions.
The last four events staged in Cairo saw the hosts qualify for the final, winning it three times and losing once.
Sports and Youth Minister Ashraf Sobhy congratulated the national team for their qualification for the finals.
Sobhy expressed his trust that the Egyptian handball team would claim the African title on Monday, lauding their outstanding performance.
