Forbes Middle East has unveiled its second annual ranking of the region’s Top Travel & Tourism Leaders, highlighting 100 influential personalities making the Middle East one of the world’s most desirable destinations. To construct the ranking, Forbes Middle East looked at the size of the business including revenues and the value of investments and assets ownership, and the business leader’s experience, designation, and achievements. All individuals had to be based in the Middle East.

Leading the Egyptian entries on the list is EGYPTAIR Holding Company’s Chairman and CEO, Yehia Zakaria, who placed 13th on the list overall. According to Forbes, EGYPTAIR saw a 60% increase in the number of passengers flying with the company between July 2022 and March 2023.

Zakaria assumed his current role in October 2022. EGYPTAIR carried nearly eight million passengers between July 2022 and March 2023, an increase of 60% compared to the previous year. It had a load factor of almost 78% in the first nine months of the fiscal year 2022/23, with an average of 1,400 international flights and 360 domestic flights weekly. EGYPTAIR flies to 70 international and eight domestic destinations. Before joining the airline industry, Zakaria gained 30 years of experience in the Egyptian Air Force.
