Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company Pilot Ahmed Adel made an official visit to the Rolls-Royce headquarters in Derby, UK, accompanied by Engineer Ibrahim Fathy, Chairman of EgyptAir Maintenance and Engineering, and Ahmed Marei, Head of the Planning Sector at EgyptAir Holding Company.

The visit included an inspection tour at Rolls-Royce’s main factory, as well as the research and development centres specialised in engine technology, where they were briefed on the latest innovations and technologies used in the aircraft engine industry.
The EgyptAir delegation was received by Rolls-Royce officials including Rolls-Royce’s Vice President of Customer Service, Ewen MacDonald, Senior Vice President – Middle East, Africa and Central Asia, Omar Ali Adib, Customer Business Executive – Africa George Abou Nasr, Chief Engineer of the XWB Andrew Rawlings.

Pilot Adel’s talks with the senior officials at Rolls-Royce, focused on ways to enhance co-operation on issues of mutual interest in the fields of aircraft engine maintenance, repair, and modernisation.
They also reviewed the latest developments and technologies in manufacturing and maintaining aircraft engines, particularly those used by EgyptAir’s fleet. They also explored new areas for future co-operation in light of the fleet modernisation plan.
In addition, they reviewed, the latest current and future developments related to Rolls-Royce’s Trent 700 engines, which power (11) Airbus A330 aircraft, and the Trent 1000 engines, which power (8) Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

The discussions also covered the latest developments pertaining to the supply of 16 Airbus A350 aircraft with XWB engines, one of Rolls-Royce’s latest Trent XWB engines, which are characterised by their high efficiency and low fuel consumption. The first aircraft of this model (the Airbus 350) is scheduled to join EgyptAir’s fleet in December 2025.
Pilot Ahmed Adel praised this fruitful visit, which provided a firsthand insight into Rolls-Royce’s latest advanced engine efficiency technologies, digital transformation plans, and ways to improve environmental performance.

“We are proud of our long-standing relationship with global engine manufacturers, led by Rolls-Royce, which began in 2004 and has continued for more than twenty years of fruitful co-operation in the operation and maintenance of the engines of the national carrier EgyptAir’s fleet of A330 and B787 models.
As we make steady progress towards modernising the company’s fleet and increasing its operational capacity, we consider Rolls-Royce a key strategic partner in this endeavor,” he added.
