Egypt’s national carrier, EgyptAir, has concluded a successful Umrah season during the holy month of Ramadan, operating smoothly without any reported disruptions. The airline maintained a high level of punctuality for both outbound and return flights, ensuring a seamless experience for pilgrims.
According to EgyptAir, nearly 205 return flights were operated from Jeddah and Medina between March 30 and Thursday, April 4, bringing pilgrims back to airports in Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and Borg El Arab, marking the end of the Ramadan Umrah season.

Captain Ahmed Adel, Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company, said the airline was committed to providing all necessary facilities to ensure the comfort of returning pilgrims. “We deployed specialised teams across both Saudi and Egyptian airports to manage the high volume of return flights and to guarantee swift and smooth travel procedures,” Adel said. He also noted the airline’s efforts to provide top-tier services on board and to overcome any challenges that could affect passengers.

Meanwhile, Cairo International Airport raised its alert level during the final days of Ramadan to accommodate the influx of returning pilgrims. Under the direction of Sameh El-Hefny, Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation, and Magdy Ishaq, Chairman of the Cairo Airport Company, all airport authorities worked to streamline procedures and prevent overcrowding at arrival halls.
A source at the airport said that special coordination was established with various airport bodies to facilitate the return of elderly passengers and those with special needs. Public relations staff were deployed to assist pilgrims during their arrival procedures. A fully air-conditioned tent was also set up outside the seasonal terminal to receive pilgrims’ families, offering seating and comfort during the long waiting hours.
