Star Alliance has announced a new partnership with Austria’s national railway operator, ÖBB, aiming to strengthen the integration between air and rail transport across Europe.
The collaboration enables passengers to travel seamlessly between flights and trains via ÖBB’s high-speed Railjet network. As part of the initiative, travellers can benefit from a single combined ticket that covers both modes of transport, alongside perks such as streamlined check-in procedures and loyalty programme rewards that extend to train journeys.
The move is part of Star Alliance’s broader push for more sustainable mobility solutions, promoting rail as a low-emission alternative for shorter legs of international journeys.
