Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Abbas announced the joining of a new plane at the end of this month to the fleet of EgyptAir.
A new A320n aircraft will join EgyptAir fleet by the end of February.
In press statements Tuesday, Minister Abbas said the new aircraft’s joining of the fleet is part of the national flag carrier’s development scheme.
Just a few days ago, EgyptAir received its first converted narrow body freighter aircraft, the Boeing 737-800SF.
The jet arrived at Cairo International Airport after having spent the last few months in the US to be converted.
For his part, Board Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company, YehiaZakaria, stated that EgyptAir seeks to expand its air cargo services to enhance the capacity of its fleet and meet the huge growth in demand for airfreight traffic around the world.
He added that the new aircraft would help increase the capacity of the fleet and enhance the ability to deliver essential goods.
Pilot Jasser Hussein, Board Chairman of EgyptAir Cargo Company, confirmed that the new aircraft has many advantages, including its capacity to cover a flying distance of up to 7 hours and to accommodate a load of more than 23 tonnes.
It is worth noting that the regular commercial operation of the aircraft will include Ostend, Istanbul, Khartoum, Benghazi, Lagos and Douala in Cameroon, in addition to special flights to Oman, Mumbai, Muscat and Dammam.
