Luxor airport also received a flight from Madrid carrying 189 passengers and Taba International Airport received an incoming flight from Poland after more than two years hiatus.

A total of 11 Egyptian airports also succeeded in obtaining the health accreditation certificate for safe travel from the International Airports Council during the year 2021, which are Cairo, Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada, Taba, Luxor, Aswan, Sohag, Assiut, Borg El-Arab, Marsa Matrouh and Marsa Alam airports.

Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Manar confirmed that there is continuous co-operation and effective coordination between the ministries of aviation and tourism to activate the air traffic and incoming tourism to tourist attractions.

Minister Manar indicated the readiness of all Egyptian airports to receive tourists from different countries of the world, stressing that the Ministry of Civil Aviation spares no effort to provide all facilities and initiatives in order to stimulate air and tourism movement externally and internally and to continue the flight stimulus programme in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and grant discounts to airlines coming directly to airports for landing, accommodation and ground services fees in order to encourage incoming air and tourist traffic to Egyptian tourist destinations.

Manar added that Egyptian airports are ready to receive tourist traffic and gave an example of the development work of the Sphinx International Airport, which aims to increase the total area of the passenger building at the airport, allowing to raise the capacity from 300 passengers per hour to 900 passengers per hour, in line with the expected increase in air traffic for Sphinx International Airport with the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

Pilot Manar also held a meeting with Minister of Tourism Khaled El-Anany in which they discussed a number of important files and topics that contribute to the tourism promotion of Egypt as well as ways to enhance cooperation between the two ministries to attract more air and tourism traffic from foreign markets to Egypt.

During the meeting, Minister El-Anany thanked Minister of Civil Aviation Manar for the fruitful and continuous co-operation between the two ministries to support the state’s plan to revitalise the travel and tourism movement and launch joint initiatives that contribute to stimulating the international and domestic tourism movement, especially in light of the current conditions witnessed by the two sectors at the global level.

He also stressed that the two ministries were keen to provide all means of support to stimulate the movement of tourism and aviation to Egypt from various countries of the world.

Tourism Minister El-Anany indicated that linking the Egyptian tourist destinations to each other will create an integrated tourism product that combines cultural tourism, beach tourism and entertainment, which is a basic requirement on the part of international tour operators to Egypt so that tourists can learn about the ancient Egyptian civilisation and at the same time enjoy the warm atmosphere of Egypt.
