In a recent inspection tour of El Alamein International Airport Minister of Civil Aviation Dr Sameh el-Hefny underscored the airport’s significance as a cornerstone of the state’s plan to develop the northwest coast.
Accompanied by Chairman of the Egyptian Airports Company Pilot Wael el-Nashar the Minister’s visit comes amid high operating rates and a growing influx of tourists coinciding with the launch of the New El Alamein Festival 2025.

El-Hefny confirmed that the airport is a key driver for stimulating air and tourism traffic, serving the New Alamein City and the wider North Coast region.
He highlighted the political leadership’s commitment to developing the airport to attract both local and foreign investment, positioning it as a major development project in Egypt.
The Minister also noted that the New El Alamein Festival 2025, with its diverse cultural, artistic, and entertainment offerings, is expected to further boost tourist demand and solidify the city’s reputation as a premier destination in the Middle East.

He praised the efforts of airport staff and the coordinated work of all relevant authorities in ensuring smooth operations and high efficiency, which he said reflects Egypt’s welcoming image to international visitors.
During the tour, el-Hefny inspected various facilities, including the departure and arrival halls, check-in areas, and ground services.

He also reviewed operations in the control rooms, customs, and passport control.
The Minister directed staff to enhance their readiness and streamline procedures to guarantee a high-quality travel experience that upholds Egypt’s status as a global tourist destination.
